vCenter SQL Express dbase hits 3000 iops every 30 mins

Ive noticed every 30 mins our vcenter sql express hits 3000 iops for 2 mins and the sqlserver process hits 100%, does anyone have any ideas on what routine

this is running? i have watched both perfmon and the SAN monitoring software to clarify the amounts which appear very high to me

How large is your environment and what's your logging level.

VC gathers continuously statistic data, that are compacted by several database jons.

It depends from you settings how much work has to be done. You can find that jobs within you database if you are interested.

spex, it is only 3 hosts and 50 vm's with normal loggin level, this is very small environment, on checking the SAN software previously there were some peaks at 300 iops, its just the last week that this has shot upto 3000 !

id be interested to know how to look at these jobs

My guess would be that these are "rollup" jobs where performance statistics are being rolled up into the next larger timeframe,

What level of statistics gathering are you using?

using statistics level 1, as i say these io's have jumped from 300 to 3000 every 30 mins in lesss than a week ! thanks for the link ive tried to run the sql script but it has an error, im on VC 2.5 U1
