getting a text screen from guest without VMware Tools

Host: Vista

Guest: ubuntu jeos (no GUI) without VMware Tools

is there any practical way using Workstation resources I can capture a screen (text screen; not a bmp)

and past it to the Host ?

No. If you want copy/paste of text, you MUST install the VMware Tools.

I've solved the problem installing ssh on the Guest

sudo apt-get install openssh-server

and using PUTTY from the host

no VMware Tools installed on the guest but text cut & paste works now
