You can't enable aero as it requires directx 10 and VMware currently only supports dx9 shader model 2.

I've heard (but not tried myself) that there's a work around by connecting via remote desktop to your guest on an aero capable host.

As your host is probably aero capable.. that's what you could try...

I'd be interested to hear your findings Smiley Happy

I just figured out that it is possible to enable aero on guest Windows 7.

What would be the problem at enabling it in Vista?

Hey that's cool... thanks for the update (and the points)

As for your Vista question. What kind of Vista is this..?

Is it Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise... the howto geek article lists that only those 2 versions support aero glass in a remote desktop connection.

Hi,

This page talks about setting the right connection speeds:

I also read that the RDP version in win7 is newer as in vista so it might also be a compatibility issue of some sort.

I just got this working in my Windows 7 VM using my Windows 7 client RDP'ed into the VM. The other trick that isn't mentioned on this thread or any links on this thread is that you have to enable "Highest Quality (32 bit)" in the Colors setting on the Display tab when you click the Options button in the Remote Desktop Connection client software.

Hope this helps!

Ian.
