Help with ESX 3.5 Video Problem

Hello All,

I have a stand alone ESX 3.5 server that has been working fine for a few months till the other day. The other day the console no longer has any video. I moved the mouse, hit keys on the keyboard, you name it, but there is no video coming from the server. I have also swapped out the monitor to the same problem. I will be resetting the server on the weekend to see if there is any change but I was wondering if anyone else had any idea's? Also I can putty into the server just fine and the server functions fine, its just the console has no video.

How would one go about troubleshooting this ? the only video on the server is onboard. I tried running lspci to check detection but that command didn't work.

If you have double checked, and reseated the cables and you still have no video I would be led to believe from your other diag tests that your video card on the motherboard is shot. If you bounce it and it still doesn't come up, if you have warranty on your server I would be calling in tech support to have them swap out the motherboard. At least you have console connection to the server and can still work with it.

Did you make sure the video cable is properly fastened and does not have any loose contact.I have had this issue and couple of times it turned out to be a loose cable.
