Adding space to guest OS?

I have a 2k3 VM when I created I created with a 10GB disk space I now need to add another 5GB so I did from the VM properties in ESX and it showed as an unallocated partition in the OS under manager.... Is there is a way to add more space to existing partition the C drive?

Thanks

The best way to increase your C:\OS drive is use VMware Converter, V2V from there and change the 10GB to 15GB during the wizard and then power off old server and turn on new server once everything working, you can blow the server away.

You can extend D:\data drive easier using vmkfstools -X command too.

Can I use partitioning software to merge D drive to C drive to be combined? How can I import the server that want to resize to vmware converter?

when you increased the disk size all you have effectively done is lay an image down onto a new disk. you will now need to extend the partition to take up the slack. as it is a OS partition the use you can either, shut down the PC and mount the disk as a second drive in a helper machine and uses that machines disk management tools to do the streching.

But by far the eaisest way, was to use VM Converter and just create a new clone of the machine with you desired disk size.

Have a read of this excelent post by Eric Siebert on this very same matter.
