Running ESX on IBM x3850

Hi,

Anyone have experience running ESX on IBM x3850? I have just purchase one quadport NIC install to the ESX, the NIC is certified in the compatibility list. But the NIC card is not work after I plug in. I have tried to change another card soma model but it still not working. May I know is that any patches need to be patch to support this card. From the ESX I'm able to detech the NIC, I can view the NIC in the network adapter.

what is the exactly build of your esx version?

after installing the nic in your server, you have to configure virtual machine networks in your vi client.

if the new card is listed under configuration / network adapters, you only have to assign it to existing virtual networks or create new virtual networks.

you can do this under configuration / networks / add networks

take a look at here:

ESX Server 3 Configuration Guide / Networking / Virtual Network Configuration for Virtual Machines

I am running on 3850's and they rock. 64 gig of ram, 4 quad core procs and we are running ~85 VMs per box. Make sure you update all the firmware with UpdateXpress and use the latest build of 3.5 to get all the drivers etc. Good luck.

There is an odd problem where they require a few boots to come up, but they are rock solid once they finish booting. Weird bug.
