VMWare Tools - Mouse Driver Fails to Install

We've just applied the latest VMWare security updates. Part of the updates was VMWare tools. I have applied this to all my servers apart from one which it does not like.

When I try to install it says "setup failed to install the mouse driver automatically. This driver will have to be installed manually"

I have tried removing the tools completely and reinstalling but this did not help. When I uninstall the tools it leaves PS/2 Compatible Mouse with a yellow exclamation mark next to it which I suspect is the basis of the problem. However I can't get this installed with out it having a yellow exclamation mark.

The OS is Windows 2003.

Any help appreciated.

I am experiencing the same issue here as well. I can not get the VMWare mouse driver installed. When I try and install it manually, it says "invalid data".

VMWare Server 1.06

Host O/S Windows Server 2003R2 x64

Guest O/S - Windows Server 2003R2 x32

The guest works fine otherwise, but it's difficult to manage with the gimped up mouse driver.
