Hi ..
Can anyone tell me where i could find some good detailed documentation on what information is being emulated by the hypervisor and how its being emulated .... white papers , websites , any ideas
thanks
You are probably looking for this stuff: http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/vi_pages/vi_pubs_35u2.html
Note, I found that there was additional information in my VMware Infrastructure course which I took before the VCP exam. Some of the information in that manual I have not seen replicated elsewhere.
What you should be focusing on is in fact the diferences between binary translation and paravirtualization.
for that the recomended reading is (http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware_paravirtualization.pdf), that PDF explains all you need to know from the way the hypervisor translates the guest os hooks to the hardware in both cases.
I've also added the PDF to this for easier access, if you have any doubts feel free to pm me.
