Virtual Center - Task and Event History

Virtual Center - Task and Event History

In ESX you can see recent events in task / events. But there appears to  be a limit. since it's saved in a database, shouldn't this list go back  as far as you need? Any way to see the ENTIRE task / event list?

This is from the VC not individual ESX hosts, how do we retrieve the list so we can see months or weeks ago?

Well it's not syslog, but I did figure out where this info is. And SQL  does keep ALL the events, going back to the beginning, at least our  database hasn't purge the old data yet, I have stuff going back to June  (when I rebuilt the SQL table)

SQL : Schemas -> dbo -> Tables -> VPX_EVENT

You have to export this from SQL or use a viewer to get this info, but  the events, tasks, everything (all details) are there. Now why can't VI  simply display the entire table if we want it?

FYI for everyone, I contacted vmware about this and was confirmed to  what rparker said...the ONLY way to get this info is to query the  database...currently it is not possible to get this detailed historic  data from VC...
