VM doesn't start or resume because of lack of storage

Version 1

VM doesn't start or resume because of lack of storage

    Summary:

VM doesn't start or resume because of lack of storage

    Problem:

VM does not start, resume, or goes offing because of insufficient storage capabilities on hosting Datastore.

    Resolution:

VM requires "hard space" that is equal to the amount of memory allocated to the Memory of the VM. If this space is not available, the VM will not start, or resume after a migration, if there is insufficient space. The VM will go offline in the case that the datastore space is consumed and not leave enough space. If insufficient space is left on the datastore, any operations involving VMotion, sVMotion or Snapshot will fail, possibly taking the VM offline. To rectify this one transfer vmdk files that belong to VMs that have their config files on different datastores to a datastore that has room.
