VMware View setup with PCoIP

VMware View setup with PCoIP

Hey all,

I'm in need of some clarification please - after reading this VMware blog post and looking at the first diagram, how does the PCoIP Zero Client (bottom right) display a Guest VM (Windows XP/7) within the ESX/ESXi Server (top left) using PCoIP?

Am I right in thinking that the PCoIP Zero Client uses VMware View to connect to a Guest VM that runs the VMware View Agent. Now the bit I'm unsure of is how PCoIP is supported? Does the ESX/ESXi Server need a PCoIP host card or is PCoIP achieved using software within VMware View?

Thanks for any help!

Arodney1, the View Agent has a PCoIP server piece in it (what we sometimes call "Soft PCoIP"). You can use a PCoIP offload card so that a physical card can do the PCoIP stuff. (aka "hard PCoIP"). In that case, the Agent passes the work of PCoIP over to the card as needed.

Brilliant, thanks for the response. That has cleared a lot up!
