Hi
I installed vcb on the proxy and I ran vcbfull script it worked but when I tried to run vcbprebackup it failed with the following error.
[2006-11-26 20:26:23.328 'vcbMounter' 8588 error] Error: Backup snapshot already
exists.
[2006-11-26 20:26:23.328 'vcbMounter' 8588 error] An error occured, cleaning up.
This the script:
vcbmounter.exe -h labdl385 -u Administrator -p P@ssw0rd -a ipaddr:192.168.0.109 -r e:\mnt\virtualcenter-file -t file -m san
is anyone can help because I read all the doc nothing is talking about this?
Thank you
Mouloud
Hi,
Have you managed to resolve this problem yet?
It looks to me like you've done a file level backup onto your vcbproxy and not unmounted it properly, either by deleting the files it dupmed for you, or by the unmount failing. Therefore, the snapshot db thinks there is still a valid snapshot for this lurking around, but cant find the files for it.
Have you tried the unmount by using the vcbmounter command with the -U option (exclusive of -a and -r) and specified the location you mounted to (-U e:\mnt\virtualcenter-file) - perhaps your unmount file is still there.
If you have in fact deleted the files, you can try deleting the snapshot of the guest from within the VI Client - if it doesn't work, you'll see the task hang for the timeout period (15 minutes) in which time you will see your esx hosts performance max out, so it would be a good idea to have no other guests on here at the time.
Failing that, from within the VI client, create a second snapshot. Once this has completed, goto the snapshot manager and hit "delete all snapshots". This should resolve the problem.
if you browse through the forums I'll suspect you'll see a lot of this type of error, Snapshots in Vi3 don't seem to work quite as desired just yet.
At a guess from within virtual centre you've ended up with some sort of consolidate helper snapshot? that can only be removed when the VM is powered down...
if so, join the line waiting for the next release to resolve this and other issues with VCB.
Simon
Actually, booting the vcb Proxy and wait a few minutes also helps you in removing the VCB snap. But it is a drag.
Restarting the "Vmware Mount Service" on the VCB host can be helpful too.
