Graphical, not "text," install of Fedora Core 7 under workstation 6.0.1

Ran an install of Fedora Core 7 on workstation 6.0.1 which seemed to  install completely, but upon reboot get black/blank screen - do I need  to specify diff. vid. card settings instead of letting it "probe?"

I opted not to install GRUB which I assume is not a problem? I don't see  anything on the virtual desktop/screen other than the vmware splash  screen. FYI, I also ran a kubuntu install and that runs fine?

Actually, that's exactly the problem. GRUB is the boot loader which  loads the actual kernel. Without GRUB (or another loader like lilo) it  won't boot.

Ah, I wasn't quite sure about that. I assumed that since Fedora would be  the only OS running this wasn't necessary. I will run GRUB and  hopefully red hat will follow

Update -> that did the trick thanks for the input

Thank you,
