Adding OS Support - RHEL and CentOS 5.4

Version 3

In VMware Studio 2.5 some of the older Linux OS templates have been removed because they can be easily enabled through studiocli --newos based on an existing similar template profile. Nonetheless, to make the process even simpler, attached are some Studio Interchange Format (SIF) files that you can import into your VMware Studio 2.5 instance to get the template build profiles for RHEL and CentOS 5.4 (32bit and 64bit).

    Here are the steps:

    1. Download the attached tar file(s) into your VMware Studio 2.5 VM.

    2. Un-tar the tar file(s), say under the /tmp directory.

    3. On a command prompt run the following commands

        prompt# studiocli --sif --import /tmp/CentOS_5_4_x32.sif --basedir /
        prompt# studiocli --sif --import /tmp/CentOS_5_4_x64.sif --basedir /

        -- and/or ---

        prompt# studiocli --sif --import /tmp/RedHat_5_4_x32.sif --basedir /
        prompt# studiocli --sif --import /tmp/RedHat_5_4_x64.sif --basedir /

And that is it. You will now find the RHEL and CentOS 5.4 template profiles in the "Create a New VM Profile" dialog on the VMware Studio web interface.
