why the storage list is null when I add a new virtual machine?

Hi, guys

I am evaluating the VMware vCenter 4.0 and VMware ESX server 4.0. They both set up in the Dell PC machines.

I can connect the VMware ESX machine successfully using VMware vSphere client. But when I try to "New Virtual Machine" , I select "Typical"->"Name"->"Datastore", there is nothing in the "Datastore" list. why? How to configure this?

Can anyone help me? Many thanks!

Simple, because you dont have any VMFS or NFS storage available on the ESX host.

You can try to create a local datastore, however if you want to play with HA and VMotion you should have shared storage like a iSCSI SAN.

How can I create a local datastore in my pc machine? Just in local machine disk instead of going to internet.
