  • 1.  vSAN ESA ReadyNode selection

    Posted 23 days ago

hi, I am planning vSAN for my company, I am wondering someone can advice.

From the Compatibility Guides, I found a lot of server vendors are in the list for vSAN ESA ReadyNode, like HPE, Supermicro, xFusion, ZTE, etc. But in the vmware web "Download VMware vSphere", only a few server vendors provide customized images.

    So my questions are:
    1. If I select servers which is certified for vSAN ESA ReadyNode, but server vendor does not have OEM customized image, will vmware provide the same level of support to me for troubeshooting? Or I have to select the one who have the customized image? But that will limit me for the server selection.
    2. Do I need to buy the same VMware license/support or these license/support are different for base image and customized image?

I am new and looking for advice. Thanks in advance.

    BR, Jack

The level of support you get from VMware is the same, they doesn't change when there is (or is not) an OEM image. The level of support should be based on your needs, it has nothing to do with having a custom image of an OEM image.
