    I have upgraded all our hosts in stretched cluster to ESXi 8.x. Is it possible to upgrade the vsanwitness node from 7.x to 8.x or I have to deploy a new vSAN 8 witness appliance?

    Yes you can upgrade the witness, but simply deploying a new one is typically faster, and it is what I would recommend.

    Deploying new witness is okay , you will need to consider giving it a new IP or power off the existing witness and give the same IP.

    Powering off witness will reduce availability on certain vSAN objects, make decision wisely.
