Error adding 2.5.4 host to VC2 posted: May 3, 2007 7:59 AM

We are in the middle of our migrations from 2.5.x to VI3. I have added successfully 7 of our 2.5.4 hosts to VC2, however I have one host that VC will not add. When I add it I get the following message:

"Unable to access the specified host. It either does not exist, the server software is not responding, or there is a network problem."

It doesn't seem to be network related as VC can "see" what's running on the host as far as guests when you go through the add host wizard and pinging it isn't an issue. I've got an SR in with VMware, and we've reinstalled the correct vpx stuff with no luck and now I'm stuck. The SE wants me to reboot the host, which under normal circumstances wouldn't be an issue with vMotion. However, this is the last host to be migrated so I have no hosts to move my guests to. Anyone else have any suggestions as to what I can try to get this working? I've tried restarting the VC services and am kind of at a loss as what to do.

Thanks!
Paul

DNS Problem?

Try putting this host in the host file of the VCMS and the VCMS in this host's host file.
