Can I change where vmplayer uses its temporary files area ?

On Linux, vmplayer wants to store temporary files in '/tmp/vmware-'username'' which is on the / directory and i want it to be elsewhere, can this be changed ?

I have asked a question on this subject in an earlier thread, the vmplayer keeps popping a message up saying 'temporary files for this virtual machine are stored in directory "/tmp/vmware-admin', which is on an almost full filesystem. Please free some disk space. One user said make more space available, however this is not an option.

I have this scenario on other servers and have not seen this error before, the other servers are running fine, which makes it seem like a change in this version of vmplayer, anyone else experience this or know why ?

You can change the directory in /etc/vmware/config by adding (or changing) the following line:

tmpDirectory = "/some/other/directory"
