I've read the document and many threads that discuss adding the mask that allows one to Vmotion between Revision E and Revision F AMD processors.

My question is somewhat related.. What are the implications of adding this mask? What is the potential for breakage of my VMs if I buy a revision F AMD box and mix it in with my Revision E's?

This would be some nice info to hear as I imagine alot of folks will be in the Rev e to Rev F position as folks get into their Q1 budget.

I am implementing this across my VDI environment, so far I have not seen any issues, but I have a very specific pool of guests that all have a very basic and specific configuration. I would love for VMware to comment on this since the I am no where near alone in this situation.

Good info....here is what the RDTSCP actually DOES....so it doesn't look like it is anything earth shattering if you don't have it on.

Level 80000001
edx ---- 0--- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Just have to add that line to the edx on the Virtual Machine Default on the CPU ID Mask tab.

Enjoy, works great for me to go from Rev E to F and back again.
