Hi,

I tried to convert a Running Windows2000 Server. I installed the software and the licence. After the iniatial try it askted to reboot which I did.
After that I tried again and the process finished to 100% but with the status failed. The VM was migrated to an VI3 system (3.0.1) with VC 2.0.1. When I tried to start the system, the VM gave a BSOD.

Hi,

RalfP had a similar problem (seehere), try to delete the WINNT\$NtUpdateRollupPackUninstall$ folder on the W2K-server and try the import again. Has something to do with the injection of the scsi-driver.

Hi,

yes, the import started, but I experienced the same thing as Kris.

Import failed at 100%, vm is ready, after booting I got BSOD saying "inaccessible boot device".

Did you edit the old import or did you start a new one?

I could edit and restart the old convert but with the same result, failed at 100%.

Which options did you use during the convert (disk size management, disk space allocation). I tried to resize and set the space dynamic growth.

Will try again with same disk size and direct allocation.

Same result
STOP 0x0000007B (...) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

So it's definitely related to the insertion of the storage controller.

Did you reboot the remote server?

I had to do this.

I get the same message when I try to import a W2K-server. The message is understandable, because the system drive wasn't transferred at all! I can only see 1 hard drive in the new VM, and that's the 'data'-drive. Did you also see this behaviour?

I got a couple of errors in the log (plain import, no resize, nu customize).

I get huge amounts of this one: ERROR_MORE_DATA received

And at the end this one:

[task,234] Task failed: P2VError UNKNOWN_METHOD_FAULT(sysimage.fault.ReconfigFault)

The last messages are the following:

IVmdbPipe2Impl operation completed with error: The pipe was ended (translated from Die Pipe wurde beendet).

'Shutting down VMDB service...
'Unregistering callback...
'...done
'[p2vSupport,141] Shutting down App

That's it....

During conversion a lot of

'[imageProcessingTaskWrapper,657] (Re)Start waiting for property updates from VmiReconfigTask::task{3}

'ERROR_MORE_DATA received

and after a while the same [task,234] as descibed by HanzdeVries.

I have never seen this behaviour. Did you select "Import all disks and maintain size" or did you select the volumes you wanted to import?

This error is ignorable. Its not related to the import.

And at the end this one:

[task,234] Task failed: P2VError
UNKNOWN_METHOD_FAULT(sysimage.fault.ReconfigFault)

This is also explained by the fact that the system disk was not imported.

Similar problem here.
The boot disk is copied and then the import fails at "step 3: prepare target virtual machine"
I have deleted WINNT\$NtUpdateRollupPackUninstall$ and rebooted.
Will see if it works now.
