The timing of the post of this Virtual Appliance is perfect. Thanks for setting this up.

There are no console or remote logins permitted in this appliance. All admin should be done through the web admin interface.

Is there anyway to specify access lists in the potsgres appliance that locks to specific source addresses (when we run postgres, we use particular IP addresses in the pg_hba.conf file)?
Thanks,
Rich

This is not something our users have asked for, so the capability does not exist. Unfortunately, within the constraints of an easy-to-use web admin interface, it's not easily possible to expose all of the configurables.

It is certainly possible for this functionality to be included in future versions. Please contact us at support@virtualappliances.net if you wish to explore the options. Thanks.

I am keen to try out this appliance, but it does not accept the alleged default password/username combo of admin:admin

Can anyone help?

The default user name/password for the web management console is definitely admin/admin. The web management console is available at https://<hostname>:8000. You should see this (and the IP address) displayed on the VMware console.

As mentioned above, there is no shell access in this VA so you cannot expect to login at the shell prompt.

EmmEff,

As a member of the PostgreSQL Core Team, I would like to ensure that the PostgreSQL virtual appliance is configured properly for performance and security and maximum usefulness for PostgreSQL users. How can I contribute to this appliance?

Please e-mail me at josh-at-Postgresql.org since I don't expect to check this forum often. Thanks!

The VM image will not work with Virtual Machine version 6, or on the 2.X version of VMPlayer or VMServer. You must use the older player to run the image. I already attempted to upgrade the Virtual Machine version from 4 to 6. It did not work.
