What is this?

So let me get this straight, VMware creates their virtual technology that can boot off of their own Virtual Disk, ISOs, CDs, etc... and you submit a script that generates a vmware config. That is your virtual appliance?!

It sounds like you just tried to rip off the hard work that VMware has already done. There is nothing inovative or unique about this project. I wouldn't even call it an appliance.

VMware gave us the ability to boot off CD's, VD's, ISO's, etc.....NOT YOU!

It's pretty sweet. You don't have to rename an iso file or repoint a vmx file.

Does anyone know anywhere to download this appliance / script now? There doesn't seem to be a way to do it from the appliance page. Or, if anyone has it, could you post it in the comments or PM me with it.

I got a few requests for this by email and came here and apparently vmware took their link down. I stopped using and deleted it years ago, assuming VMware would keep it and I could just download it if I ever needed it again. Fortunately, I found it in a email attachment. I'm posting it here for everyone who wants it, but it comes with a DISCLAIMER: this was made over 3 years ago, and may or may not work with the VMware products of today, and may potentially have some bugs. This is unsupported, as I do not plan on doing any further development on it, although if anyone else wants to, you are free to use this code in whatever way you see fit, or even update and maintain it if you want to keep it going.

It's different because it is not the exact same zip file. The code inside is the same, but the documentation is slightly modified from the original.
