Works on VMWare Server 1.0.0 build 24927. What I like about this is that I can mount a SCSI virtual disk on SATA or IDE physical drives and get the benefits of an iSCSI SAN without needing physical SCSI disks. Still playing around with it, looks good so far, just need to learn more about the Linux iSCSI implementation.

Hi - Like what you have built for the community. As you have created a specialist appliance from the ground up, I think documentation would be advisable. More chance of getting people to vote for you if a quick start guide to LUN creation and mapping for hosts were to be included. The Sourgeforge contains very technical documents - I support your submission and congratulate you on an emerging field which as users awareness grows will add instant benefits to the majority of infrastructures.

Thanks

Is there a system that can take iSCSI targets from multiple (virtual) machines and put them together into 1 target or share? I want to give my users a single storage area, that can grow without being taken offline, and with fault tolerance.

You will need to put both on the same subnet. Make sure both are on the same virtual network. If you cannot change the Windows server's IP address, you have to login to the iSCSI appliance as root, the run IFCONFIG. Search the net on the usage of the IFCONFIG command. (Sorry, it's been awhile since I had to do that.) :-(

So you're saying you put your server on 192.168.237.x, the same as the iSCSI appliance. Are both the server and the iSCSI using the same vnet? Can you ping the other machine from either one?

Just hooked up this Virtial SAN to a Windows 2003 Box. Nice. Plan to use it with a clustered Exchange environment. Definately will keep you posted on it.

Nice job so far with it.

If you're using Win2k or Win2k3, use MS' iSCSI Initiator.
