I hope you can benefit from VubuntuS, as the objective was to create a single do it all (or at least most of it) machine that is easy to manage, even for Linux newcomers.

Please only use this link if you must...VMware's Bittorrent should work fine.

Have fun!

Hi, After I downloaded the file I only got are 3 files; sda-s001.vmdk, sda-s002.vmdk and sda-s003.vmdk .... How would I be able to run it under virtual machine? Am I missing vmx file?

Thanks.

To access the internet I have to go thru proxy servers. How do I specify the proxy servers in vubuntus?

the proxy content filter service (Squid + DansGaurdian + ClamAV) is installed by default on port 8080...
for example the default would be:
192.168.112.200:8080
you need to define your browser settings to browse through this ip/port.

Once you defined the browser setting you can then test the proxy filter with a virus test file at:
http://eicar.com/anti_virus_test_file.htm

If you want to change the servers ip or other settings, you can reffer to this:

Feel free to ask any additional questions,
JB

Wow! What an amazing virtual machine, I will recommend it to all geeks that I know (all 2 of them)... I hope you win the contest... I do have one question, how in the world do you manage to put in this much work and still have a job (I assume you have one)... I mean having to setup a linux system with all this "magic" must have taken you weeks and weeks... your boss must be a great guy to let you do all this...

hopes for the best in the contest,
z

P.S. Quit whining....

Hi All,

i'm desperate to get this virtual image up and running but have been unsuccesful importing it into ESX 3.0. I've tried manually running the "vmware-cmd -s register" and it appears to be successful, but i cannot then start the Virtual Infrastructure Client to manage the ESX server. It just bombs out with "connection error" until I unregister the image, upon which the VIC runs immediately.

Running VMware Converter on the vmx file fails as well with "Warning: Cannot configure the source image" and also trying to add the machine in manually as a new VM via the VIC also fails. I've tried multiple known good copies, i can them in workstation fine, but not in ESX.

Does anyone have any ideas on how i can import it into ESX 3.0?

Hi
This looks great.

I have a problem though connecting to the Internet using the VM - oniously have something set incoirrectly as I can get out using other VMs - and nt sure where to start looking.

I am running the VM on a machine that connects to the Internet through another machine.
i.e. the VM has IP 192.168.0.112 and my machine that connects to my modem has internal address 192.168.0.1 and a cable modem address also. Can anyone point me where tio get started.

Many thanks

David

Hi,

before I try this image I would just like to know if this would help me do the following;

1. download email from a external POP/IMAP mail server to a local disk
2. Filter those downloaded email with spam tools
3. Act as a local SMPT server for mail distribution to local users
4. allow local users to email to remote addresses via my local SMTP server

Awaiting your response

Cheers !!
