This appliance is very useful as a starting place for projects, thank you.

What would you think about pre-installing vmware tools?

I am not having success with the username and password that I found at the referenced link.

I can't, because that almost definitely break the GPL.

I am not having success with the username and

The first time you boot the VM, you will be prompted to set the root password.

VMware HAS stated that appliance authors may install the VMware Tools in their appliances and redistribute the appliances.

It doesn't matter if VMware have stated that (but I would be interested if you provided a reference), the GPL doesn't allow binary modules to be distributed loaded into GPLed software.

Distribution of the VMware Tools to third parties is applicable only to the Windows version of VMware Tools and NOT to the Linux version of VMware Tools.
