Linked mode as DR?

Hi

We are planning to set up vCenter Server on 2 geographically separated sites in linked mode - mainly for DR. Thus, if one site fails, the other site should be able to access VC as usual.

Is this setup possible? ie will VC in linked mode requires one server to be 'Primary' and the other is 'Secondary'? Or, are the instances independent and only replicating among themselves so that if one instance fails, the other ones will continue working as usual?

Many thanks for your assistance

Vicky

Re: Linked mode as DR?

Linked mode will not do DR for you. If you loose one vCenter, the other one will be alone, and you will not have access to the other vCEnter's ESX servers or VM's.

For this, you should take a look on solutions like SRM or any other related with SAN replication.
