Auto Deploy and Maintenance Mode

Hi all,

We are currently test-driving a vsphere 5 implementation.

- Stateless esxi 5.0

- Autodeploy Server

- Host profiles

Is anyone else having this same issue? :

  1. I enter a host in maintenance mode
for example because I do not want the host to have vm's because the host has a network issue
  2. I reboot the host, to see if that fixes the problem
  3. Now the problem is, after the host reboots, it loads its image profile and applies its host profile.....
An then then it exits maintenance mode automatically !!!!! :smileyangry:
  4. Suppose i did not pay attention (suppose), host exits maintenance mode automatically, and DRS vmotions VMs to this host.
  5. Host still has a network problem, and vms loose network connectivity....

According to VMware this is a feature...i call it a bug...

Any ideas on this?

Can anyone test or check to see whether this behavior is the same?

Thanks and kind regards,

Harold

Just the number 3. It automatically exits maintenance mode like there is a bug or something. I got used to it actually and I just hoped that it can be fixed soon.

one possible work around would be to move the host out of the cluster until you are done working on it (we have a separate folder for maintenance). That way if it comes out of maintenance mode, no vm's will go to it.
