Player fails to install in Slackware 13.37

Hi,

Hi,

I have the a similar problem of thread (http://communities.vmware.com/thread/322549?tstart=0) but with Slackware 13.37 but I don't understand what they did you do to make the install work.

I have /usr/local mounted in /dev/sdb3 type: ext3

The  installer in console reach 57% then sais "Rolling back USB Arbitrator 8.4.18"  Deconfiguring... Then it ask is I want to keep any configuration files  (yes/no) with both answers the install fails.

I ran the installer with root but it still does not work. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Carlos.

with earlier slackware versions the install used to fail because the directories for the /etc startup scripts do not exist in slackware.
then the trick was to create them ...

As you said VMWare and Versions of players used to fail with earlrier version of Slackware (12.0 for example).. however, since 13.0 this is not the case. In fact VMWare player 3.1.5 build-491717 runs perfectly on Slackware 13.37. So, it is my beleive that version 4 has a bug in the installation system.

I've also failed to install on Slackware 13.37 x86_64. Also somewhat similar to the failure reported in http://communities.vmware.com/thread/322549?tstart=0 .

There just aren't any error messages to indicate what's going wrong. 3.1.5, and previous releases, have worked fine, so I was very surprised that the upgrade to 4.0 failed. My filesystem is reiserfs.

Cheers,

Peter
