I deleted a LUN and recreated it as a different size.

I unplugged the fiber from the HBA and the system restarted okay.

I'll do further research on this in the morning.

I have 1 dual port HBA. It is assigned to Virtual machines.
I port is connected directly to an IBM FAStT. The other is connect via SAN to an IBM DS8100.

I had created a 1TB LUN on the DS8100 that VMware found when I did a SAN rescan. But later in the day I deleted this LUN and created a new one of a different size. When I went to do the SAN rescan that's when it failed with this kernel panic. I rebooted and it failed again with the kernel panic. So I unplugged the fiber cable from the HBA and VMware restarted fine.

I plugged the fiber back into the HBA. Then followed this procedure to rescan the SAN
echo "scsi-qlscan" > /proc/scsi/qla2300/4
vmkfstools -s vmhba4

This seems to have fixed the problem.
