Hi there,

Seen quite some good things on VMware Capacity planner. Pretty impressed by this offering.
Downside I think is that the service is only available thru the VAC partners or VMware PSO.
I know you would want to make sure the service is used correctly but maybe it is a idea to create a special "certification" for enterprise partners who want to use the Capacity planner.

VMware
Patrick,

You should check with your VMware Channel Manager about the Capacity Planner program. I believe it is more a matter of timing than whether you can or cannot deliver the services directly. In the early releases of this software, we felt it was necessary to tightly control the service. As the software matures, I believe will will open it up to our partner community.

VMware
Capacity Planner is tool used to perform Server Consilidation Assessements. A Server Consolidation Assessment is a fee-based service from our Professional Services group. As such, it is not a product you will find on our download site.

Some of your best contacts in the Netherlands can provide you with information about this great tool. Planning is to make it available through the demo site for presentations to our costumers.
If you compare this tool to Platespin PowerRecon with the new Add on tool you wil find the possibilities of Capacity Planner broader.
PowerRecon is a great tool to use in mid range Windows oriented companies. Capacity planner is for the larger companies with Linux, Windows, Netware, unix servers.

My understanding is that Capacity Planner does not work on NetWare. Can someone pls confirm this?

Thanks in advance...
