ESXi 4 support for Dell T110

Hello,

Any idea if / when the Dell T110 server will be tested & supported for ESXi4? It has the Intel 3420 chipset.

Thanks

Looks like the T110's SATA can't be used with ESXi (yet - see here, post #337).

HP ML11x also make great test lab boxes - not as capable as the Dell though.

Please award points to any useful answer.

Supported, probably never, unless Dell runs the certification program on this server. It does work. I've been running my test box for about a week without any problems. See my other post (http://communities.vmware.com/message/1418447 comment #7).

I have ESXi 4 installed on the Dell T110 but in order to use anything attached to the integrated SATA controller I had to use the custom oem.tgz described here:

The T110 has the Intel Ibex Peak aka P55 chipset.

I can confirm that ESXi 4 Update 1 does install on a T110 without the need to customize oem.tgz. Unfortunately, there is still no health/status monitoring for the attached SATA drives.

Hello jknott67

We bought 2 Dell T110 and S100 with controllers not really checked the HCL, and there was no way that VMware ESXi v4.0.0 recognize the RAID5 generated by the S100, S300 supports neither the manufacturer of the controller or chip that Dell is not even have driver for VMware.

My solution has been to buy 2 controllers 6iR Dell Perc.

Dell T110 con controladora S100 RAID no compatible con VMware
