VMWare Server has been working for me for quite some time until a coupel of days ago when I upgraded both CentOS 5 to latest kernel version and from VMware 2.0.1 to 2.0.2. Then it started to failing in various ways

  • Web Interface keep disconnecting, including console
  • driver wont' compile (got a workaroud from another thread in this forum)
  • Regardless of using the built-in driver that ships w/ vmware or custom compiled, something funky
    • Client OS boots and then died

Anyone here successfully running 2.0.2 on new kernel? Also can't find the download location for 2.0.1

The exact same thing happened to me. I am running Centos 5.3. I have two virtual machines installed on the host. Both are running XP. Even though i can no longer connect to these machines using the VMware Web Interface, the machines are still running. The only way to regain access to the web interface temporarily is to reboot the host. Running vmware-config.pl (as root) to force a shutdown and restart does not help. I get the message "Unable to stop services for VMWare server.

If anyone has any ideas how to fix this, I would be most appreciative.
