Be sure that you are using a good cable and that the switch is configured in autonegotiation.
On the switch side what did you see? Have you tested your port so be sure that works fine with 1Gbps?
Highly recommend replacing the cable. Many people come and ask this question and are sure their cable and switch port are good, and after days of troubleshooting they replace the cable/port and lo-and-behold, its fixed....
