Hello,

Can you please post the following documents?
  • Your UI log from a Workstation session during which you clicked "Never Remind Me".
  • Your user's preferences file.

For information about how to collect these documents, see: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-10191

Can you also try the following workaround?
After you submit the above documents, open the preferences file in a text editor.
See if you can find the key "hint.cui.toolsInfoBar.suppressible" in the file.
If you can, modify the line to be hint.cui.toolsInfoBar.suppressible = "FALSE".
Otherwise, add the whole line as I've written it above.
Restart Workstation and power on the VM with out of date tools.
Wait a few minutes.
If the hint doesn't show up within 3 minutes, then it was successfully suppressed.
You can keep that key set to FALSE if you want the "update tools" hint disabled.

As for why "Never Remind Me" didn't result in this behavior for you, I'm not sure. I'll look at the log and preferences file and see if anything jumps out.

Thanks.
