After upgrading to 1.0.2 and applying the hotfix I cannot place a vm. The server log has the following entries:

Hi sstover,

What is the story of this VM? Was it created after the upgrade to 1.0.2 or before that?
Is the VM automatically or manually placed (i.e. going through the steps of the placement wizard)?
Is this reproducible for all VMs or only for a specific one?
The problem seems to be in the network associated with the VM.. Is it doable to dump the content of the LCM_TOKEN_DATA database table after the problem occurs?

Hi Todor,

Sorry for taking to long to reply I was on vacation. I started over meaning that I wiped out the databases removed the software and began anew. This time around I did not bother to upgrade just a clean install. After adding all of my inventory back in I created a new machine request to test the installation. Sure enough when I go deploy the vm from the placement section I receive the following in the virtual machine events in Lifecycle Manager

This happens to every template I try to deploy from. The used to work fine, and nothing in the environment has change other than going to LCM 1.0.2.

Hi sstover,

Can you give a little bit more information on your setup? What VC version are you using (2.5 or 4.0)? Is your request going through manual or through auto placement? How are your LCM network objects configured - using DHCP or using static IPs? When you reproduce your issue again can you please dump somehow the contents of several DB tables in order to debug your problem: LCM_TOKEN, LCM_TOKEN_DATA, NET_NETWORK_DOMAIN. From the logs you provided we can see where the exact problem is, however, without getting your DB data we can isolate the problem further.

Hi again,

One more question: when you're placing (automatically or manually) the request are you using a Domain or a Workgroup object? And if you're using a Domain with what networks is it associated?

Todor,

Here are the answers to your questions.

1. My Virtual Center is v2.5 u4.
2. I am using the manual placement method.
3. The network object uses DHCP (although I tried it static and it failed as well)
4. When placing I am using a Domain (I also tried a workgroup and it failed)

I emailed you the SQL tables you requested as well as the network associated with my domain. I also sent the tail end of the server.log file in case you neeed it.

Hi sstover,

Can you share how your criteria mappings are configured - are you using same criteria for all objects or not?
Will it be possible to send a dump from tables LCM_INF_ELEMENT and LCM_CRITERIA_VALUE_INF_ELEMENT?
When you're making the manual placement which objects are you selecting during the wizard?
While we're investigating the problem further can you try to associate all objects (especially networks and domains) with the same criteria and try again to see if this fixes the issue?
