Please help in my trouble:

I have Virtual Center 2.5.0 build 147633 in evaluation mode and host with ESX 3.5 Server Standard (licensed used host license file) registered in Virtual Center.

Then I aquired license and license file on my VC and try to add it to License server (installed on same machine with VC).

Step 1:

I put license file to C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware License Server\Licenses and press Reread License file button in Vmware license server tools.

Step 2:

I tried to switch license services to "Use license on this VC" and "Use following license server" and enter IP of this VC but failed (see picture).

Step 3:

I completely restart my VC - it does not help.

Step 4:

I go again to Vmware license server tools and press "Perform status Enqiury" button on "Server status" tab with results:

Status
--------
Flexible License Manager status on Thu 11/5/2009 14:54

http://Detecting lmgrd processes...
License server status: 27000@vc-main
+ License file(s) on vc-main: C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware License Server\Licenses\vmware.lic:+

vc-main: license server UP (MASTER) v10.8

Vendor daemon status (on vc-main):

VMWARELM: UP v10.8
Feature usage info:

Users of _PING_SERVER_: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

So, no VC licenses present.....

PS: License server also does not recognize SRM licenses in other license file.....

Please help/////

Try using the option: "use the following license server" and enter the FQDN of your license server

On the License Server Setting, choose "use the following license server" and put 27000@127.0.0.0

I think your problem lies with the domain issue:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1009080

Make sure that the system you use for your vCenter Server installation belongs to a domain, rather than a workgroup.

you could try IP address for the license server but you should be working with a domain and not a workgroup

I test mine with "27000@computername" and it's working

BTW yours already pointing to correct license server "License server status: 27000@vc-main" but do your license server tool pointing to correct vmware.lic? If correct vmware.lic, you should get more info from license server tool "Perform Status Enquiry" operation.

have you merge your ESX host + VC license & pointing your ESX host license to VC license server?
