Cloning a Win2003 fails with "Error: Failed to clone volume 'C:'" posted: Nov 4, 2009 5:41 PM

Hi,

this is my first attemp at cloning a Windows 2003 server. The clone consistantly fails about 15% of the way through cloning the C: parition. The other partitions cloning complete. This is a pretty bog standard server. I'm not really sure where to start. I've inlcuded the logs of the conversion in the hope someone knows what to look for that could explain why the clone is failing. I am using Converter Standalone Client 4.0.1.

I have run a scan on the disk for corruptions / bad blocks and nothing was reported.

Regards

Anthony

is that driver on this list ?
http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/windows/xp/x86/mass-storage/9.01/drivers

if yes I would try a Coldclone with a MOA-CD

in case you try a hotclone SCSI-drivers should not matter.
Does the server use NTFS and has sufficient free space on the C: drive ?
Does the boot.ini look nice ?

Well Acronis or Ghost32 usually are more reliable than Converter - so there is nothing wrong with using them for the imaging part of the job
