I have the same Issue:

With Data Recovery Version 1.0.2.562

13 machines work fine (windows 2008, windows 2008 r2, windows 2003 r2)

2 (windows 2008 r2) make problems.

difference to the other pos. we have not esxI. we have esx servers vsphere 4.0 (enterprice) and backup to a IOMEGA NAS.

Anyone knows help ?

I found several posts on here that indicate you should reinstall VMWare Tools on the 2008 servers doing a custom install without the VSS driver (and without the SVGA driver, but that's unrelated to VDR). Some people say that works.

It definitely changed the error I was receiving....but hasn't resolved my issue yet. YMMV. Worth a try, right? If you try it, please post the results.
