Hi Ket,

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a load of VCP3 and VCP4 information on my VMware Training and Certification blog, and my Think Virtually web site.

At this time you can get both certification... but I suggest to focus directly on VCP4.
First you have to attend to a official course on vSphere.
Then you have to study and do some labs.
Finally you can take the VCP410 exam.

There are a lot of hints also on this community:

I have completed VCP last week, From my experience I can say
just focus on below things before going to exam

  1. Setup your on vSphere 4 infrastructure lab at least with 2 ESX 4.0 servers
  2. Experiment all the possible features like VMotion,DRS,Alarms,
    dvSwitch,HA,Resource Pools etc
  3. Read each and every configuration pages under vCenter & ESX carefully(This is most important)
  4. Go through configuration maximum doc just before 1 day of exam.
  5. Read vSphere administration guide carefully

I have completed 4 not 3.5.

as per memory I got a question from firewall config

I like very much the structure of exam. Because from each & every feature/concept there are questions.
So a candidate should have hands-on experience as well as conceptual knowledge on total VMware infrastructure to pass the exam.

Good Luck Ket

In the VCP3 exam, you typically don't get any command-line questions, perhaps the odd one or two. The most important document to review is the exam blueprint as it will tell you what you need to know.
