After waiting a lomng time for shader 3 support I am looking for a way to turn it off or have workstation report shader 2 support only to an XP guest

I run a linux host and have been using Workstation to run several guests, but mostly a Win XP with my "windows only" software. One of these programs is Altium Designer, an electronic CAD, package that leverages Direct 9, shader level 3 for extended features including a 3D mode. When I tried this I found the software to be virtually unusable even not using the extended capabilities. Unfortunately with it all I have is a setting to use Direct X or not, and I do want some of the other features it leverages direct X for so I am looking for a way to report shader 2 support.

Is this possible or do I have to go back to Workstation 6.5.3 which runs flawlessly and provides a very responsive system for this program but lacks shader 3 support?

I have the same problem too.

With XP as guest in VMware WS 7 (and 6.5.3) I can work, but I am not able to work with the enhanced features of the PCB-Editor even if DirectX is switched on (No effect).

With Windows7 in VMware 7 the Designer ist to slow for effective working, and if I switch on the DirectX Support in the Designer the PCB view is more or less only a yellow area with some shades, that menas absolutly unworkable.

Perhaps the service pack from altium will give some enhancements, but I think I has to wait for enhancements from VMware if there are no switches in the software for adjust the graphic driver.
