When comes the new vmware tools whose fix this Problems?

Is there a Blog or a Twitter Accout for New Updates for VMware ESX(i) v4?

Thank you vmware team

When it is thoroughly tested to be a reliable OS as a VM it will be officially supported. Most companies policies would not allow a new OS to be the basis for critical company information. Suicide. Feedback from Workstation an VMware Server help in finding issues which is why they tend to have earlier support.

If you paid $100,000 for licenses I would think your VMware rep would be a better sounding board than here.

The original poster was talking about VM's. My response is no different for vCenter Server. When it is thoroughly tested and and verified it will be a supported platform for hosting vCenter.

Are you suggesting all MS oem's use some other than VMware in the setup and testing environments ?

If you are an OEM when do you release? When it's thoroughly tested and verified hopefully.

Puh-leez. WIndows7/2008R2 were RTM months ago, yet VMware pretends they were just "released" October 22. We still can't even run the stupid vCenter client on Win7 without a hack. VMware is sleeping at the wheel in regards to the new MS OS's, period.

Still stands. When it's ready. Microsoft always has work around procedures for it's own products that don't work with new OS's. The goal for any developer is to have a reliable platform. No more important than for a virtualization platform that supports mission critical processes. How many organizations got caught trying to support Vista.

Fair enough, but part of the problem is that (at least with Win7, not as much with 2008R2) network admins can't get their user base off of Vista and to Win7 fast enough. Normally when a new OS comes out, admins are cautious and really take their time... but Win7 is SO superior to Vista in every way that we want/need to run it NOW. Same goes for R2 and its new features. It just seems like vendors are taking their sweet time bringing support and haven't recognized this (admittedly unusual) rapid adoption of a new OS.

There is a new version of View on it's way very soon (days) and I would suspect that VMware will want to support Win7 asap.

There are millions of lines of code in a Windows OS. Probably closer to 100 million in R2. Microsoft dropped some 120,000 API calls in Vista. Do you remember how long it took companies to rewrite applications to make them work with Vista. You need to make sure you don't write yourself into a corner. That you can take care of the differences between different different versions of the OS. That a change in one place to support one OS doesn't break support for another. That it works with all your partners software, that it works with all your partners hardware and drivers. Will there be a spate of changes in the next month or two that obviate all your changes. Will Microsoft release a new version of dotnet that mean another rewrite. It just takes time.
