VMware Player unrecoverable error

Hi all,

I install vmware player 2.5 on 2 PCs and i have this same error . I install vmware player 2.0 its working. But i can open .vmx because was create with last VM workstation version.

VMware Player unrecoverable error: (player) NOT_IMPLEMENTED d:/build/ob/bora-118166/bora/lib/misc/win32uRegistry.c:76

When does this error occur? On opening Player? On opening a VM? Some other time?

It looks like it's some problem when Player is started and tries to retrieve information about the host's serial ports but somehow ends up with malformed string data. (Is there anything unusual about your host hardware, particularly with regard to serial ports?)

Could you run regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM, export the tree as a .reg file, and attach that?

I am getting a similar error message. I have attempted to reinstall VMware, and have also tried to repair it. This happens when I open up VMware.
