Hola

Tengo en una infraestructura de vsphere unas máquinas que tienen un exceso de consumo, ¿como puedo saber qué lo produce y cómo evitarlo?.

Hola

La forma mas sencilla es acceder a las VM y mostrar los procesos cuales estan consumiendo memoria: task manager. No hay forma de averiguarlo desde VCenter o ESX.

Hola Akumal,

A que te refieres con "exceso de consumo". Es memoria, CPU, i/o de Red, i/o de Disco, o todo en general?

En cualquier caso, utiliza las herramientas internas de la VM (perfmon, taskmanager, etc) + esxtop, vCenter perfmon tab.

En cualquier caso, estas los las herramientas con las que puedes indagar algo mas:

VM( Taskmanager, perfmon)
vCetner (VM perfmon tap)
ESX (esxtop)

Hola:

Por casualidad no tendrás el vSphere con procesadores Intel Nehalem?

Si es así hay un problema detectado con este tema.
Existe un fix para corregirlo (es un pack de 384 MB):
  • Guest operating system shows high memory usage on Nehalem based systems, which might trigger memory alarms in vCenter.

Te hace reiniciar el ESX.

Si no quieres instalar el fix existe un Workaround:
En las propiedades avanzadas debes colocar a 1 el valor Mem.AllocGuestLargePage
Te recuerdo que si quieres instalar ese fix debes colocar ese valor a 0

A mi me ha solucionado el mismo problema que tenias sobre todo en máquinas 64 bits
