Creating a package from an installed package posted: Sep 11, 2009 1:09 AM

A customer created packages with a policy to limit the use on specific PCs.

A user (let's say User1) installed the pachage on an authorized PC and made relevant changes to the installed VM.

The customer would like to redistribuite to other users a copy of the VM with the changes introduced by User1.

What is the simplest way to create a new package starting from the VM modified by User1?

Regards

Marius

Perhaps you can use the vmware-acetool to "clone" the instance to an un-ACEified vm, then open that new clone in Workstation and make it into a new ACE.

Do a "vmware-acetool /?" and look for the CloneToVM option. You will need the Recovery Key.
