I am looking at purchasing a Dell 1600SC as a test bed. It would not support users it would be more for functionality and learning the software. It would have the following config

Single 2.8 Xeon Processor (Dual Capable)
1 Gig Memory
Embedded SCSI Ultra320 (LSI 53c1020)
1 - 72 Gig SCSI Ultra 320 Drive

I looked through the supported hardware and it looks like the 1500sc was supported...I also looked in the I/O guide and the LSI 53c1020 looks like it is also supported.

Has anyone successfully used ESX 2.0.x (for testing) on a 1600sc with this similar config?

Thanks for your help...
Chris

This is correct. You can run ESX Server on this box without an issue; however, it will not be supported by VMware.
