Hello from Germany!
I try to setup the latest ESXi build 4.0.0 171294 to the Dell Computer, got the error "Unsupported BIOS setting (CPUID is limited. Disable..."
I saw the threads here and tried the "TAB-Key", entered the "nocheckCPUIDLimit" exactly like shown:
> mboot.c32 vmkernel.gz nocheckCPUIDLimit --- vmkboot.gz --- sys.vgz --- cim.vgz --- ienviron.tgz --- image.tgz --- install.tgz
pressing ENTER twice the setup starts and this error shows up:
"Fatal Error, no Multiboot kernel" and only seconds later the VMWare VMvisor Boot Menu shows up again...
any hints in this case??
Thank you very much!
Best Regards
Peter

Hi Andre,
yes, I exactly did whats mentined in that thread/link you gave me..
Same result, "unsupported... CPUID is limited..."
Any others hints in this case?
BTW: I´m trying to install 4.0 and not 3.5.... hope the parameters are equal in this case...
Best regrads
Peter
2 things I had to do.
1. Remove raid configurations. Can't really explain, hopefully someone else can. The solution below alwasy loaded ESX, but I always had a problem booting from disk.
2. Insert "nocheckCPUIDLimit" in two places. mboot.c32 vmkboot.gz nocheckCPUIDLimit --- vmkernel.gz nocheckCPUIDLimit
I found this on a thread reply from BillMcAllister. Thanks Bill.
Hello all!
the TWO entries make my day!
Thx all for the support!

Much Kudos... I've been trying to Get ESXi to work on my Precision 670 for days with no luck.. I was going to switch to a different vendor until I tried this fix for the "nocheckCPUIDLimit" entries. Thanks.
