Hello!

Has anyone successfully downloaded and installed the LeftHand Networks Virtual SAN Appliance? The download site (http://www.hp.com/go/tryvsa) seems to be perpetually stuck.

I was able to download the OVF files from the VMware website. When I try to deploy the OVF file, I get an error that the the OVF failed to deploy with an internal server failure. I read one posting from Google that the VMDK files should probably have version=3 instead of version=1 for compressed stream VMDK files (as well as modern VMDK files). This also resulted in the failure.

I'm now at a loss for how to proceed.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi - yes I've downloaded and installed it a few days ago without issues. I downloaded and installed the cut down laptop version - runs great!

So when you fill in all your details on the HP site, the download just doesn't happen?

I haven't tried downloading the OVF.

No. Whenever I tried to load the website http://www.hp.com/go/tryvsa, I'd get a blank screen and eventually a timeout. Then, after a couple of hours of retrying (every half hour or so), I received an Apache error message. I waited about another hour and then the website worked and I got the download. I remember trying this months ago and I was also getting the blank screen and timeouts; so, I was assuming that HP wasn't really interested in getting the appliance distributed anymore...

Hi guys,

I downloaded the ZIP file successfullyfrom the hp site, but the problem is that I tried to convert it to .ovf to deploy it and I couldn't. i follow the steps from the quickstart guide and nothing, is like those files are useless unles am doing something wrong. Then I found out that going into vm marketplace on vcenter there is an option to download and deploy.. Now the problem is that after 45 % X it cancels itself. So I don't know what other option can I apply to be able to deploy the lefthand on one of my esx. any ideas how to get the OVF ? or why is the reason it cancels when downloading from the marketplace ? will appreciate your comments and help.

I had the same issue trying to download the Lefthands VSA and gave up. I did search on the Virtual Appliances marketplace for VSA and found a similar product called SvSAN. http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/323773

I completed the form and the received a download link . The SvSAN installed via OVF and was really easy to create mirrored datastores with the StorMagic tab.
