We have upgraded our 3 hosts to ESX 4.0 and it is great. We now started upgrading vmware tools on each vm and are having a small issue. Each time we upgraded a vm it completely hoses the Symantec Endpoint Protection client and it needs to be reinstalled. Is anyone else experiencing these issues?

Yes, we also have the same issue on version 10.X. What we are doing now is uninstalling SEP and reinstalling it. There must be a overwrite of a shared DLL or something. I've only seen this on Windows 2003 VM guests as I have upgraded VMtools on a 4.0 VDI cluster with XP VMs and did not see this issue. We are also in the midst of upgrading our SEP envirnoment and I'm hoping version 11.X will not have this issue. What version are your clients?

Are you planning to open a SR? There must be other folks who will be experiencing this.

Extact same issue with my upgrade. SEP 11.0.4202.75

SEP must be the most troublesome AV I have encountered in a very long time.
