where is the username/password for Vcenter DB and Update Manager DB? does it store in some file?

Hello,

Moved to Vcenter Server Forum.

Yes it does. It uses ODBC so it is stored in the DSN. For vCenter it could be stored in vpxd.cfg as well.

The password is encrypted and stored in registry. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware VirtualCenter\DB).
